One Hell of a Show!

Images from Amelia's Magazine

Welcoming us on board pretty hostesses treated us travellers to an amazing Courvoisier Punch that was not as summery as Pims but certainly more delicious! Take off promptly started at 19.30 with the Models pounding the catwalk to music from DJ Hudge,  hair by Declan at Andrew Barton and make up by Green People.

Prompting my neighbor to declare God each one is more beautiful then the other. Definitely not sure whether she meant the models the clothes or just the show as a whole. Peppered by a host of paps, academia, press, artist  and the crème de la crème of Ethical Fashion it was heaving. Spring designs were presented together with the Ju.St limited edition of Autumn Winter 2011 and classic junky styles.

Things I loved and just need to buy were the catuits and playsuits in silk , breeches with bomber jacket bottoms and the better then pringle maxi length dress in red for women!

For the  boys trying to figure out seriously how to woe my man into the all in one catsuit which I love and now comes in a load of different styles and colours they are so sexy! Also Krt jewels recycled glass pieces which are so beautiful and covetable might end up in my section instead.

We were promised special show rate for pieces at the show and believe you me I searched and searched for someone available but reckon was beaten to the post, but I have a list which I am hanging on to! So will be hotfooting to shop this week.

A Basement of Gems

On my travels this week I entered the mecca that is Topshop, Oxford Circus and I was gleefully happy to find two quirky ethical brands on the bottom floor, The Village Green and Recycle & Reinvent.

The Village Green had this cosy knit jumper (that is 100% Merino wool and made in England) along with an array of stylish pieces such as this skirt with cute heart pockets. Prices range from £45 to £85.

Recycle and Reinvent use vintage clothing, adding cool twists to the garments such as bows and pocket detailing to create one off funky tops such as these.

I love the crop top with striped bow at £22. This would look very rock chic with some leather or punk it up with distressed denim.

Unless you have been hiding under a rock for the last couple of weeks you would have heard and seen on the news the devastating effects from the earthquake and Tsunami in Japan.

Blogger Katie Antoniou has done a fantastic job in getting together some uber cool bloggers to help raise money for the survivors, with a sale and a silent auction this coming Saturday at The Horatia pub in North London. The silent auction is simple, there is a piece of paper next to each item and you put the amount of money you would pay for this, along with your contact details and the highest bidder wins! As easy as that!

You will see some amazing thing donated from signed books by Gisèle Scanlon and bake-a-boo, stationery from Present and Correct, make-up courses at illamasqua and lots lots more!

See you there 1pm sharp!

A Alicia at Ethics Girls

Ethics Girls is an online shop and magazine that is brilliant to get involved with. They promote ethical fashion and are fighting fast and unfair fashion with their online store filled with fabulous brands with creative and sustainable ways of making stylish clothing.

New to Ethics Girls is A Alicia's ethical accessories made from fairtrade and organic cotton and vintage materials. One of my favourites is this drape knitted cord necklace in navy with vintage glass beads in gold at £30.64.

I also love the six cord knitted necklace (also in navy as I'm having a nautical moment) at £40.85. This also comes in pale grey, pale pink, pale lilac, off white and rich pink.

And finally this knitted cord cuff in pale pink and navy blue, which may have just made its way into my shopping basket for £16.34. It is also available in grey with peach and navy blue with lilac.

Our very own Lupe Castro at Ethical Heaven is a member of Ethics Girls and anyone can join for just £5. Membership will allow you to have a say in how the business is run, help decide what products to sell and gain a share in the company profits.

I give Ethics Girls a huge pat on the back on their mission to end fast and unfair fashion and I am seriously thinking of joining myself!

New Dresses for Spring at TRAIDremade

Take a look at TRAIDremade’s new dresses in for SS11.

The dip dye dress is perfect for right now. Perhaps wear with some chic biker boots for an edgy look. The lovely cinched waists and below the knee lengths gives these dresses a great fit and a demure look to the fun prints. And yes these are ONE OFF pieces made from second hand textiles that would otherwise be thrown away.

They are also an absolute steal at just £27.50!

The magic of Sen

I am loving the brand Sen, I was lucky enough to get my hands on the massage oil and the shower gel to try out, not only do they come in such pretty packaging they both smell divine!

The shower gel has been specially formulated with pure jasmine essential oil and lotus extract to simultaneously remove impurities and toxins from the skin, while the antioxidant micro pearls (which are red!) gently polish and nourish, priced at only £9.00

The Detox Massage Oil is a beautiful blend of jasmine essential oil and lotus extract, which smoothes and nourishes the skin while stimulating the drainage of impurities and toxins. Perfect to use after a shower or for those with a lot more time on their hands a bath.

We all need a treat from time to time and the Sen shower gel and detox massage oil is something we can't afford to ignore! Bliss does come in small packages ladies!

Emma Watson's Final Collection for People Tree

As signs appear that winter is finally behind us, thoughts are turning to summer wardrobes. Having already had two extremely successful collaborations with People Tree, Emma Watson has worked to create a new collection of summer staples that are sure to encourage the sun to make an appearance. Florals, checks and polka dots are all rocked by Emma with blacks and blues creating cute casual summer dresses.

Aside from the dresses I love the simple white tee with a dulled multi-coloured Union Jack as a focal point which could be matched with some of Emma’s frayed denim shorts to form an outfit ideal for a summer’s day. And if you’re looking for a new playsuit then I adore the simple black design matched with a chunky belt decorated with swooping birds and stars.

All in all, it’s a great collection that brings ethical garments to the forefront of affordable clothing. Well done Emma!
